These are great books in the classic early Marvelmania Silver Age run. These issues features classic story and art by legendary writers and artists Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Larry Ivie, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Paul Reinman, Dick Ayers, George Roussos, Bob Powell, Mike Esposito, and Frank Giacoia. Included are an early cross-over appearance by the Amazing Spider-man, and the second appearance of one of Spidey’s greatest villains, The Sandman, the origin of Doctor Strange, the 1st mention of classic Doc villain Dormammu, The Thing guest-starring and announced as The Human Torch’s regular co-star, Paste-Pot Pete donning a new costume, The Thing and The Torch battle the Prince Namor the Sub-Mariner, appearances by Mad Thinker, Baron Mordo, and Dormammu, and the 1st app. Of Nick Fury, Agent of S. As he takes on Hydra. Issue #115 has general wear, and tearing at the top edge of the front cover, with a piece missing above the comics code stamp. Issue #124 was folded vertically and horizontally, so it has fold marks through the book, in addition to general wear, a spine roll, and staining on the lower part of the back cover. Issue #125 has general wear and spine stress, as well as a stain marking on the middle of the front cover, and small tape pieces on the inside front cover. Issue #131 has general wear and spine stress lines. Issue #132 has general wear and spine stress, and a piece of tape near the top right side edge of the front cover. Issue #135 has general wear with spine stress, a spine roll, creasing near the top right side of the front cover, and a number stamp on the back cover. The staples are further in, but it’s not clear if that was the printer, or done later. Strange joining the ranks of Marvel Universe characters starring in their own movies, ST #115 has in particular become a very hot and sought-after book, and so has ST #135 since the hit ABC-TV series Agents of SHIELD. So there are some definite key issues here. These are landmark 1960’s issues, and a key Marvel SA addition to any collection. Check out our other auctions for more great items.
